The HR giant reached out to Cicero to better understand the impact of years-of-service award programs on employee outcomes such as tenure, engagement, and performance. Years of service programs are not new, and companies wonder whether these traditional programs continue to add value in today’s workforce. Cicero embarked on a six month, global qualitative and quantitative research project where we interviewed more than 2,000 employees of large companies.
Cicero concluded that milestones programs yield a substantial return on investment in terms of improved employee engagement. Cicero also found that companies that offer years of service programs retain employees an average of two to three years longer than companies without a program, yielding impressive return on investment. Surprisingly, the findings held up across all employee age groups and other demographically diverse groups. These findings grew sales and marketing for our client at least $50 MM over a five year period.
